As far as racing goes, Peter Boylan – Managing Director of the Boylan Group of businesses, and Deputy VP ARDC Board Member – has an impressive career on the track spanning more than three decades. Peter began racing in 1976 and has piloted everything from open wheelers to production cars and sports cars.
While putting a BMW M3 through its paces across Mount Panorama in 2003, Peter notably won his class at the Bathurst 24 Hour and achieved a 6th Place finish outright. He then followed this up during a second year with another Top 10 finish, outright. Two BMW’s were originally raced back then, and Peter still has the first one nestled lovingly in storage.
It wasn’t until some influence and coercion by buddy Geoff Morgan, which saw Peter co-purchase a 997 GT3 Cup car to make his foray into the Porsche world, competing in the Asian Carrera Cup series.
“I jumped into that car without any practice or testing at all for the first time on a race weekend, and I just kept swapping ends,” recalls Peter. “I spun that car more times in one practice session than I had ever spun everything in my entire racing life combined, until that point. We ended up qualifying second last. When I took off in the race, I literally scared myself at how fast it was off the line and by the end of the race I had gotten past four cars,” he continues. “I thought to myself. This Porsche thing… not bad, actually. If I learn how to drive this thing, well, I think we can do pretty good.”
Peter stuck with it, and the Porsche bug bit hard. He purchased his own car unbeknownst to Geoff – which was all part of an elaborate joke – that lead to a rather comical and perplexing situation when a fresh Boylan-liveried Porsche showed up on the start line. It wasn’t long before Peter was running at the front of the field in Carrera Cup Asia, securing Class trophies, Runner-Up accolades and ultimately finishing his last year racing with a Class win.
The GT3 Cup race car Peter retains to this day is yet another different example he brought over to Australia from Asia, which was purchased second-hand, albeit essentially new. It is a 2008 Series-1 997 GT3 Cup car with a 3.6L engine, that Peter still drives in ProdSports and Sprint races. 而他仍然設法保護這些令人垂涎類勝以及!

Continuing the Porsche theme, Geoff once again talked Peter into also buying a 1974 Carrera for historic events, and Peter says that he has been enjoying himself immensely, though he hasn’t won anything just yet.
“It’s a good day out at the track with friends, wives and partners. It’s just great fun,” he praises. “And to this day, I still run DBA signage on all my cars because they have supported me for as long as I can remember, and that means a lot to me.”
