Replacement disc rotors - Highway Patrol vehicles
In recent weeks we have received a number of complaints relating to the poor brake performance of highway patrol vehicles, most of the complaints have been levelled at the new model AU - XR8 Falcon.
During the latter part of March we conducted a number of evaluations in which we examined both brake pad and rotor performance. Ford Tickford supplied an XR8 with a modified braking system which we also tested.
These tests confirmed:

The current Bendix Ultimate pads performance is adequate. |
| * |
That FordlTickford need to increase the size of the master cylinder, (the previous model EL used a 15/16 master cylinder the AU uses a 7/8 cylinder). Tickford have proposed the use of a 1" master cylinder, ADR compliance testing is currently being camed out. |

Both standard and DBA slotted rotors were evaluated, the slotted rotors provided improved pedal response and breaking efficiency. It is proposed that the 8 slot rotor be used as a replacement on all highway sedans. I have requested Ford to make these a standard option on all Police Special XR8 sedans. |
I have spoken to Phillip Joseph from DBA who has confirmed that the cost of the slotted rotor will only be slightly more expensive than the standard rotor.
I would appreciate if you could make the necessary arrangements to ensure, that all highway patrol vehicles requiring disc replacements are fitted with 8 slot rotors supplied by DBA.
